EXPERIENCES

Surgical Treatments

For every diagnosis, there are a number of general treatment options that are possible. Surgical intervention is an option for conditions that do not respond to nonsurgical methods of treatment. Surgery can be risky and difficult, but sometimes after careful consideration, it’s clearly the best option. When possible, a minimally invasive surgical technique is used requiring a small incision and allowing for a shorter recovery time. Standard open approaches are performed as well.

Spine Fusions

A spine fusion becomes necessary when there is instability in the spine. This treatment results in the permanent joining of two or more vertebrae so that there is no movement between them. Over time they heal into a single, solid bone returning balance to the spine structure.  Note that not everybody with low back or neck pain will require spinal fusion surgery. But if your condition indicates surgery, spinal fusion has a long history as a treatment option.

Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic surgeons are familiar with all aspects of the musculoskeletal system, but many specialize in certain areas, such as the shoulder, the spine, or the hip or knee. Cal-Orthopedic offers a full range of orthopedic medicine and surgery options to help you determine what is right for you with the goal of getting you back to the activities you love.
